Make a Creative Thinking Play Date
by Julie Blake

Every business is in the music business! If a Wendy's commerical will play music by the Violent Femmes, an irreverent New Wave 80's group ANYTHING is possible!!! I was shocked when I heard the music track for "Blister in the Sun" playing on TV.

Opportunities for your music are everywhere...but only if you are looking for them! The easiest way to find them is to step away from your music and "Make a Creative Thinking Play Date!" Take time to think and write down ideas about new possibilities for your music...and that's what this blog is all about! Finding people and companies that can benefit from your music that are beyond your imagination!

In the movie "Barnyard" the North Mississippi Allstars got the gig because as they told Nickelodeon "we practice in a barn...we are perfect for this movie." Barnyard is well worth checking out (even if you don't have kids) the music totally rocks and makes the movie, but be forewarned, it's rated "PG" for "mild peril and rude humor," (I think it has something to do with the kid tipping and cow surfing).

The following is an excerpt from the Success Story titled "Rockie Lynne's Road to a Major Record Deal" on the Get Music Success website...

"After touring the entire country, Rockie began to realize that in order to build a loyal fan base he would need to choose a region to focus on. Rockie’s “light bulb moment” happened in Minnesota while listening to a local band that was introduced as Minnesota’s “best country band.” They took the stage and started singing “Achy Breaky Heart” with a “Minnesotan” accent. He then realized that nobody was moving to Minnesota to build a music career. “There’s a market for anything if you are willing to find it” says Rockie, and he saw this as an opportunity of a lifetime."

Click Here to read Rockie's entire success story of how he sold over 50,000 CDs as an Indie Artist, and shares the magic note that landed him a major record deal and his sure fire plan for music success!
Creative Thinking Play Date
Get out your pen and paper, dust off your imagination and take time to write down whatever pops into your head...don't censor anything, just write, you'll be surprised what ideas pop out of nowhere.

Ask Yourself...
What types of people are drawn to my music and how can I find them?
What kind of businesses or groups could benefit from my music?
What steps can I take to promote my music?
What would I love to do today?

Even if you don't come up with earth shattering ideas when you write, your mind will start looking for answers and opportunities everywhere you go! Simply asking the questions are powerful because it opens your mind to new ideas.
